Nationally restricted admission degree programs

Applications, admissions and registration

If there are national admission restrictions for the subject you are interested in, this means that there are more applicants than there are places available in this subject at German universities.

It is only possible to register in one of these programs if you have been granted a place.

How to get a place at LMU

Please read the following explanations carefully. Select the category that applies to your status to get more information regarding next steps:

German citizens (even if they have dual citizenship!) should always choose the category "Germans and Bildungsinländer," even if they received their university entrance qualification abroad (also International Baccalaureate).

Foreign citizens please choose the category "Germans and Bildungsinländer" if you received your university entrance qualification in Germany or at a German school abroad. The same applies if — after receiving a degree from a German university or university of applied sciences with a standard period of study of at least 6 semesters (bachelor's degree, state examination) — you would like to continue your studies in the same field at LMU (master's degree) or begin a new undergraduate program.

Please note: Foreign citizens who, after receiving their university entrance qualification abroad, successfully complete a degree program at a German university or university of applied sciences with a standard period of study of at least 6 semesters are also Bildungsinländer.

Citizens of EU member states (Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Sweden, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Czechia, Hungary, Cyprus) or the EEA member states (Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway) please select the category "EU/EEA citizens."

This also applies in the case of dual citizenship with a non-EU/EEA member state and also if, after receiving a degree from a German university or university of applied sciences with a standard period of study of at least 6 semesters (bachelor's degree, state examination), you would like to continue your studies in the same field at LMU (master's degree) or begin a new undergraduate program.

All other foreign citizens please select the category "non-EU citizens." This category also applies for candidates who received their university entrance qualification abroad and received a degree from a German university or university of applied sciences with a standard period of study of less than 6 semesters and wish to begin a new undergraduate program (that does not build upon their existing third level qualifications) at LMU.
